Creating Results: DESCRIPTION
The Creating Results model focuses on three areas which provide the basis for a unique approach to personal and professional development.

Figure 1. Creating Results Model
1. Organizational “Street Smarts”
Participants use a map and tools to learn how to navigate the organization. They identify both personal and organizational sources of power. The Organizational “Street Smarts” map provides a tool to guide individuals in assessing the organization for talent, priorities, structures, ands processes. Lastly, participants learn how to identify critical stakeholders and use various strategies to influence them to agree.
2. Influencing Others
Participants learn practical influence skills to enhance relationships and gain agreement and commitment from others. They become skilled at knowing which styles to use whether they are working on developing rapport or building agreement with others. Participants learn to use the skills to also manage stress and conflict.
3. Leading Yourself
Participants explore emotional intelligence by examining their own thought processes. They learn how their thoughts are a direct indication of the extent to which they empower and disempower themselves. Thought patterns are explored in terms of how they impact choices.
How is the program structured?
Creating Results flows through the three elements of the program, Organizational “Street Smarts”, Influencing Others, and Leading Yourself, to give participants ample opportunity to learn to work through challenging situations in terms of their organization, other people, and themselves. This is accomplished through role-plays, case studies, small and large group work, exercises, lecturette, one-on-one trainer coaching, peer feedback, a/v feedback, and application to a real-life situation.
Participants learn to work through challenging situations in terms of their organization, other people, and themselves.
Self Assessment: Prior to the program, participants collect data from associates about their influence style usage via a 360 degree feedback instrument. They choose a successful and a challenging situation which they assess. They then use these situations as a basis for interviewing someone inside the organization. Guidelines for interviews are provided. Thus they begin a process for building Organizational “Street Smarts”.
Organizational “Street Smarts”: Participants learn how to effectively set and think about objectives, identify sources of power in terms of the organization and themselves, use a map to understand how things work in their organization, and identify stakeholders. Strategies for influencing others are explored and assessed for their own organizations.
Influencing Others: Participants are introduced to the influence styles within the context of the overall Creating Results model. They learn what styles are most effective to use in challenging situations based on their assessment of Organizational "Street Smarts". Leading Yourself also contributes to the effective use of the styles.
Leading Yourself: Participants use an approach to look at how they support themselves and how they short circuit their effectiveness, especially in challenging situations. They identify ways to increase their personal strengths and reduce negative biases and habits that impact getting results.
Application Planning: Lastly, participants practice integrating the three critical areas for success in their own real-life situations using tailored simulation and intensive feedback from peers and training staff.
